Where the treatise explains the manaskāra that discerns the characteristics among the seven manaskāras: it refers to being able to understand the coarse characteristics of the desire realm and the calm characteristics of the higher realms. In the Hīnayāna explanation, all six aspects must be practiced; now, in the Mahāyāna, a single aspect suffices and it is not necessary to complete all six aspects, bringing to mind any one kind among the six aspects.
