The Commentary states: Below is the fifth part, a detailed general conclusion. Everywhere it is taught that there are originally existent seeds, which all contradict the thesis established by the newly perfumed position; therefore, asserting only newly arisen [seeds] contradicts both reason and teaching. In the various sutras and treatises, there is no definitive text stating: 'All seeds are naturally existent and none are produced through perfuming'; nor is there any definitive passage stating: 'All seeds are exclusively newly perfumed and there are no naturally existent seeds.' Therefore, accepting both is in good accord with the sutras.
