The Commentary states: This clarifies these two kinds of persons. Namely, all non-trainees of the two vehicles of determined lineage completely, and these bodhisattvas of gradual awakening in all stages, when the wisdom of dharma-emptiness and its fruits are not manifest before them, whether abiding in distracted or concentrated minds, in sāsrava or anāsrava minds, exclusively give rise to the attachment to dharmas, because the attachment to self has already been severed. For the gradual awakening, it excludes the path of seeing completely, and in the path of cultivation, the stages where the wisdom of dharma-emptiness and its fruit are manifest before them, because in these stages attachment to dharmas definitely does not operate. Other stages are not excluded, and all have attachment to dharmas. However, if all of these are trainees or non-trainees of gradual awakening, or bodhisattvas of sudden awakening from the eighth bhūmi onward, their general trajectory is similar. Before the seventh bhūmi, sāsrava minds intervene, unlike the eighth bhūmi; from here down is the second part, hence it is re-disputed.
