Chapter 66 explains phenomena possessed of causes, stating: 'Furthermore, among actions and afflictions previously performed, the vipāka fruit in the three realms is superior. Because this vipāka fruit is originated by actions and afflictions as their cause of origination, they are called phenomena possessed of causes.' This is not the sixth cause of induction among the ten causes, because the treatise does not state that the cause of induction obtains the vipāka fruit. This is said with respect to the distinctly determined causes and so forth; corresponding to what is appropriate, the cause of vipāka is nominally designated as the cause of induction in contrast to the completing and distinct fruits, because it remotely induces them and is spoken of in contrast to the completing fruit and completing cause.
