6.54

如理作意，非彼無明生起之因，即前解勝。若准《緣起經》由三無明起非福行，何故不得現行發行。若不起無明發行感果，亦應不起現愛、取潤，又《緣起經》唯說諸聖有學，不共無明已永斷故。

Proper attention is not the cause for the arising of that ignorance; hence the former explanation is superior. If, according to the Pratītyasamutpāda-sūtra, non-meritorious formations are initiated by the three kinds of ignorance, why could active [ignorance] not activate formations? If ignorance were not activated to initiate formations that invite fruit, then active craving and grasping should also not be activated to moisten [rebirth]. Moreover, the Pratītyasamutpāda-sūtra only says that for all noble ones in training, because unshared ignorance has been permanently severed,
