The Treatise says: 'This excludes the mind, mental factors, etc., of fruition (vipāka).' This cites fruition unspecified nature (vipākāvyākṛta), and 'etc.' includes the mind and mental factors karmically induced among deportment and technical craft. As well as these minds, mental factors, and the reflex images carried by these mental factors, none are capable of perfuming; as for minds and mental factors that are not karmically induced, their cognizing and manifesting reflex images to perfume is not at all precluded. Therefore, to say the second interpretation is superior—that fruition can perfume, with 'etc.' only including the inferior—is logically unfounded.
