釋曰：是本論也，唯明煩惱及生得善，論依未離欲異生說；若已離欲或生上地，隨所離欲，即此地煩惱、隨煩惱，亦成就亦不成就，未永言隨眠故，對治道所損故，如其次第及生得善隨所生地，即此地成就。

Explanation: This is the root treatise; it only explains afflictions and innately acquired good, and the treatise speaks based on worldlings who have not separated from desire. 'If one has already separated from desire or is born in a higher stage, in accordance with the desire from which one is separated, the afflictions and secondary afflictions of this very stage are both possessed and not possessed, because their latencies (anuśaya) are not yet permanently eradicated and because they are damaged by the counteractive path; respectively, as well as innately acquired good, in accordance with the stage in which one is born, is possessed in this very stage.'
