問：根等有生心等能，殊別於前，名變異。觸既似彼有功能，應同根等名變異。

Question: The faculties and so forth possess the capacity to produce the mind and so on, distinct from previously, which is called modification (pariṇāma). Since contact resembles them in possessing capacity, should it not, like the faculties and so forth, be called modification?
