Answer: There are three explanations. One says it is induced by the fundamental wisdom of the sphere of nothingness (ākiṃcanyāyatana). The second says it comes after the fundamental wisdom in the first dhyāna. The third says subsequent wisdom is born after fundamental wisdom; if one does not realize the real, one cannot clearly understand the conventional, so it need not arise directly in the immediately contiguous moment following it to be so. Hence, that stage has subsequent-attainment wisdom; the wise should reflect upon this. Furthermore, according to the twelfth fascicle of the Yogācārabhūmi, one enters based on two causes; that treatise asks: by what expedient means does one enter this attainment (samāpatti)?
