Again harmonizing with the Abhidharmasamuccaya, the subsequent explanation of excellence is spoken based on the two vehicles. That treatise states: Furthermore, relinquishing the preparation for severing afflictions, or diligently applying expedients to contemplate the dharmas, or diligently applying preparation to abide in the dharmas, or advancing to cultivate all paths of other samāpattis—these are called the "path of excellence." The Commentary says: "Furthermore" is to reveal other meanings. Abandoning all paths of preparation for severing afflictions, merely properly contemplating dharmas such as sūtras; or again abiding in the observation of dharmas previously contemplated and realized; or entering into other superior grades of concentration—all such as these are called the "path of excellence."
