1.61

問：「宗若所立，頌中八義攝法不盡。」答：「隨八所成，即是宗故。又宗所立，隨能立中，便次明之，彼所成故，攝法亦盡。又觀察義中，諸所有事名因明故，不舉其宗，於何觀察？故今舉宗，顯所有事能立體。」

Question: "If the thesis is what is to be proved, then the eight topics in the verse do not exhaustively subsume all phenomena." Answer: "Because whatever is accomplished by the eight is precisely the thesis. Furthermore, as the thesis is what is to be proved, it is conveniently clarified next within proof; since it is accomplished by them, the subsumption of phenomena is also exhaustive. Moreover, because hetuvidyā refers to all existing things within the investigated meaning, if one does not adduce the thesis, regarding what would one investigate? Therefore, it now adduces the thesis to reveal the essence of proof in all existing things."
