問：「勝論師說空有六德：數、量、別性、合、離與聲。經部不許，云何今說德所依故他隨一因？」答：「示法舉略，非顯唯有所依不成，無他隨一。既具二過，體即隨一所依不成。」

Question: "The Vaiśeṣikas state that space has six qualities: number, measure, separateness, conjunction, disjunction, and sound. The Sautrāntikas do not accept this; why then is 'because it is the substratum of qualities' stated here as [āśrayāsiddha rather than] the reason being anyatara-asiddha for the other?" Answer: "This is an illustrative shorthand to demonstrate the principle; it does not indicate that it has only the fault of āśrayāsiddha and lacks that of anyatara-asiddha. Since it possesses both faults, its essence is an anyatara-āśrayāsiddha."
