問：「此六過因於九句因各是何過？」答：「此初共因是彼初句，此第二不共是彼第五句，此第三是彼第七句，此第四是彼第三句，此第五是彼第九句，此第六過彼因所無，此相無闕，彼有闕也。」

Question: 'Among the nine-clause hetus (nava-vidha-hetu), what fault does each of these six faulty hetus correspond to?' Answer: 'This first common hetu is its first clause; this second uncommon hetu is its fifth clause; this third is its seventh clause; this fourth is its third clause; this fifth is its ninth clause; this sixth fault does not exist in those hetus: this [viruddha-avyabhicārin] lacks neither characteristic, whereas those [in the nine clauses] are deficient.'
