Third is fallacious proof (sādhanābhāsa): the three members are mutually deficient, or many words have faults, so that by futile effort one brings about one's own defeat; therefore it is called fallacious proof. (This has two aspects: first, deficiency of members, where thesis, reason, and example are deficient as the case may be; second, having faults, where even if completely set up, various faults arise in their train, falsely establishing and mistakenly presenting, so that an erroneous thesis is wrongly manifested. Uttering words that defeat oneself, it is therefore called fallacious proof.)
