2.30

「佛言：『卿欲使火燃不？』問之至三。曰：『欲使燃。』佛言：『可去，火當燃。』應聲皆燃。迦葉復念：『是大沙門，神則神矣，然未得道，不如我已得羅漢也！』

"The Buddha said: 'Do you wish for the fires to burn, or not?' He asked him this three times. [Kāśyapa] replied: 'I wish for them to burn.' The Buddha said: 'You may go; the fires will burn.' At his words, they all burst into flame. Kāśyapa thought again: 'This great śramaṇa is certainly spiritual, yet he has not attained the Way, and is not equal to me, who have already attained the status of an arhat!'
