Next, they are distinguished according to the two gates of dharma and subsequent [cognition]. The first three knowledges of abandonment are exclusively the fruits of dharma-forbearance and dharma-knowledge; viewed from the unimpeded path they are the fruits of dharma-forbearance, and viewed from the path of liberation they are the fruits of dharma-knowledge. The next three are the fruits of subsequent forbearance and subsequent knowledge; viewed from the unimpeded path they are the fruits of subsequent forbearance, and viewed from the path of liberation they are the fruits of subsequent knowledge. The next one is exclusively the fruit of dharma-knowledge, because the delusions of cultivation of the desire realm are severed by dharma-knowledge. The latter two knowledges of abandonment are either the fruits of dharma-knowledge or the fruits of subsequent knowledge: if one severs the upper delusions of cultivation by means of the desire-realm dharma-knowledge of cessation and the path, they are the fruits of dharma-knowledge; if one uses the four subsequent knowledges to sever the upper delusions of cultivation, they are the fruits of subsequent knowledge. This being so, discussing it completely: dharma-knowledge has six fruits of knowledge of abandonment, three in seeing and three in cultivation; subsequent knowledge has five fruits of knowledge of abandonment, three in seeing and two in cultivation (this concludes the second subsection).
