次辨斷處。如經中說「初至五地斷除害伴，六地七地斷捨羸使，八地已上斷除細使。」以八地上所依智障無明薄少，故令四住習氣不行。斷處如是。

Next, to determine the locations of their severance: As stated in the sūtra, "From the first to the fifth stage, one severs and eliminates the companion-destroying [proclivities]; on the sixth and seventh stages, one severs and abandons the weakened proclivities; and on the eighth stage and above, one severs and eliminates the subtle proclivities." Because on the eighth stage and above the underlying cognitive obscurations of ignorance are attenuated and diminished, the latencies of the four entrenchments are caused no longer to operate. Such are the locations of their severance.
