問：開善明中道，莊嚴不明中道，何意爾耶？解云：莊嚴不以中道為二諦體，故不明中道。開善明中道為二諦體，故彼云：二諦是不二一真之極理。是故明中道也。

Question: Kaishan explains the middle way, whereas Zhuangyan does not explain the middle way. Why is this so? Answer: Zhuangyan does not take the middle way to be the essence of the two truths, and therefore does not explain the middle way. Kaishan explains the middle way as the essence of the two truths; thus he says: "The two truths are the ultimate principle of the non-dual, single reality." For this reason, he explains the middle way.
