"Having received the words of prediction, the bodhisattva's doubts were dispelled and his yearnings ceased; instantaneously he was without discursive thought, and he entered serene concentration. He thereupon attained the pure forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas. At that moment he lightly rose into the air, ascending seven fathoms above the ground; coming down from above, he bowed his head to the Buddha's feet. Seeing the ground was muddy and wet, he took off his deerskin garment, wishing to cover it, but finding it insufficient to cover the mud, he untied his hair and spread it upon the ground, causing the Buddha to step upon it as he passed. The Buddha praised him again, saying: 'You are energetic and valiant. Later, when you attain buddhahood, you shall deliver all devas and humans in an age of the five defilements without regarding it as difficult, surely just as I do.'
