2.95

婦事夫有五事：一夫從外來，當起迎之；二夫出不在，當炊蒸掃除待之；三不得有婬心於外，夫罵詈之，不得還言作怒；四當用夫教誡，所有財物不得藏隱；五夫休息蓋藏乃得臥。夫視婦亦有五事：一者出入當敬於婦、二飲食衣被當用與、三用給金銀珠璣、四家中所有少多悉付之、五不得於外有邪心畜侍御人。

For a wife serving her husband there are five things: first, when the husband comes from outside, she should rise to welcome him; second, when the husband is away, she should cook, sweep, and await him; third, she must not have lustful thoughts toward outsiders, and when her husband reviles her, she must not talk back or get angry; fourth, she must heed her husband's admonitions, and must not conceal any property; fifth, she may sleep only after her husband has rested and [the house] is secured and shut. For a husband looking after his wife there are also five things: first, he should be respectful toward his wife when entering or leaving; second, he must provide her with food, clothing, and bedding on time; third, he should furnish her with gold, silver, and pearls; fourth, he should entrust to her all the possessions of the household, whether small or great; fifth, he must not harbour perverse inclinations toward outside women or keep concubines.
