一切門語有四：一、欲斷諸蓋趣向善者，為說先時作法；二、遠離諸蓋心調善者，為說增進四聖諦等相應正法；三、在家出家多放逸者，無倒諫誨，方便令其出離放逸行，住不放逸行；四、於諸法中多疑惑者，為令當來離疑惑故，為說正法論議決擇。

All-gate speech has four [types]: (1) for those who wish to sever the hindrances and advance toward the wholesome, speaking to them of prior preparations; (2) for those who are free from the hindrances and whose minds are well-tamed, speaking to them of the correct Dharma corresponding to advancing in the four noble truths and so forth; (3) for householders or renunciants who are mostly negligent, offering unperverted admonition and instruction, employing skillful means to cause them to abandon negligent conduct and abide in non-negligent conduct; (4) for those who have many doubts regarding dharmas, in order to cause them to be free from doubt in the future, speaking the correct Dharma and engaging in debate and discernment.
