3.43

略由二緣，捨諸菩薩淨戒律儀：一者、棄捨無上正等大菩提願，二者、現行上品纏犯他勝處法。若諸菩薩，雖復轉身遍十方界，在在生處不捨菩薩淨戒律儀，由是菩薩不捨無上菩提大願，亦不現行上品纏犯他勝處法。若諸菩薩轉受餘生，忘失本念，值遇善友，為欲覺寤菩薩戒念，雖數重受，而非新受，亦不新得。

Briefly stated, the pure bodhisattva precepts of restraint are forfeited due to two conditions: first, abandoning the vow for anuttarā samyaksambodhi; second, actively committing a dharma of defeat with a superior entanglement. If bodhisattvas, even when taking rebirth throughout the realms of the ten directions, in each place of rebirth do not forfeit the pure bodhisattva precepts of restraint, it is because these bodhisattvas do not abandon the great vow for unsurpassed bodhi, nor do they actively commit a dharma of defeat with a superior entanglement. If bodhisattvas take another rebirth and forget their original mindfulness, upon encountering a good friend, in order to awaken their mindfulness of the bodhisattva precepts, even if they repeatedly receive them again, it is neither a new receipt nor a new attainment.
