Fourth, regarding existence and non-existence: here too there are four propositions [and their extensions]: 1. The meaning of turning away from the preceding in the posterior thought-moment is the meaning of existence. 2. The meaning of destruction in the preceding thought-moment is the meaning of non-existence. 3. The meaning of relying on the preceding in the posterior thought-moment is the meaning of non-existence. 4. The meaning of being able to induce the posterior in the preceding thought-moment is the meaning of non-nonexistence. 5. Because the preceding two meanings are without duality, it is the meaning of mutual preservation. 6. Because the posterior two meanings are without duality, it is the meaning of mutual eradication. 7. Because preservation and eradication are unobstructed, the preceding six propositions combine into a single unobstructed transmigration. This is what the sūtra means when it states: 'All dharmas are without arising and ceasing; I explain the meaning of the kṣaṇa.'
