Tenth, ultimate emptiness: the dust mote does not obliterate phenomenal marks and yet is constantly empty and tranquil—this is ultimate emptiness. Now, although phenomenal marks remain, their marks cannot be apprehended, their names cannot be apprehended, and their principles and meanings cannot be apprehended; because all things cannot be apprehended, it is called ultimate emptiness, not a mere verbal expression of non-existence. However, in ultimate emptiness, when it is empty, it does not obstruct the vivid presence of the dust mote dharma. When the dust mote dharma is vividly present, it is constantly ultimately empty.
