The Great Record states: As for 'true jewel palace', some say it is the land-ocean, and some say it is the fruit of nature manifestation and the fruit of distinction of the three virtues. However, since the three virtues are not ultimate, it is precisely the fruit of nature manifestation. 'Thoroughly sitting on the bed of the middle way of the limit of reality' is because the study at the causal stage is exhausted, reaching the fruit stage. Regarding 'from of old unmoving is named Buddha': from the initial rising from the character fa (phenomena) to the ultimate end at the character fo (Buddha), the initial rising and the ultimate end are one single place. Therefore, what the Upādhyāya said: 'Every step of practice is the original place; every arrival is the place of departure.' This is precisely the meaning.
