'Next, I take refuge with my life in the pure Saṅgha of the three vehicles: the three wisdoms they practice are the bodhisattva path. Donning the armor of the great vows, spurring the horse of vigor, grasping the bow of forbearance, and shooting the arrows of wisdom, they slay the thieves of afflictions; with a straightforward mind and a deep mind, they resolutely and correctly proceed toward the unsurpassed, foremost, and equal correct path. They are never apart from mindfulness of the Buddha, mindfulness of the Dharma, and mindfulness of the Saṅgha, receiving and practicing all the spoken teachings of all Buddhas. They constantly cross sentient beings over with the six perfections and constantly gather in all conscious beings with the four means of embracing, serving as venerable ones and guides, as reliances and saviors, firmly placing sentient beings on the path to Buddha-awakening; for this reason they are called the Saṅgha. Companions in the Dharma and good friends, they constantly benefit the world through expedient means; they are good fields of merit and true recipients of offerings; therefore, I prostrate to the ocean of the pure Saṅgha.'
