Turning this mind around, one generates understanding. This is like a painter washing away all the colors and applying white pigment. That is to say, contemplating the body as impure, up to contemplating the mind as impermanent—such path factors circuitously lead to the conjured city. Contemplating the body as empty of body, up to contemplating the mind as empty of mind—within emptiness there is no impermanence, up to no impurity—such path factors directly lead to the conjured city. Contemplating the body as impermanent, impermanence being itself empty, up to contemplating the dharmatā of the body as neither permanent nor impermanent, neither empty nor non-empty, and contemplating the mind likewise—such path factors circuitously lead to the place of jewels. Contemplating the dharmatā of the body as neither pure nor impure, illuminating both pure and impure; up to contemplating the dharmatā of the mind as both permanent and impermanent, illuminating both permanent and impermanent—such path factors directly lead to the place of jewels.
