Fourth, explaining the subsumption of dharmas: Doubters say: "The name 'calming and contemplation' is brief, and its subsumption of dharmas is not comprehensive." Now, this is not so. Calming and contemplation is a dhāraṇī that universally gathers in all dharmas. Why? Calming can quiet all dharmas, like applying moxibustion to the precise point so that all afflictions are eliminated; contemplation can illumine principle, like obtaining the king of jewels so that all treasures are acquired, fully endowed with all buddhadharmas. The Pañcaviṃśati has one hundred and twenty items and all dharmas, all stating that one should learn prajñā. Prajñā is simply contemplative wisdom, and contemplative wisdom already subsumes all dharmas. Furthermore, calming is the king of samādhis, and all samādhis enter into it.
