3.223

為生扶真之事善，說三藏觀；為生扶真之理善，為說通觀；為生扶中之事善，為說別觀；為生扶中之理善，為說圓觀。是名隨「為人悉檀」，亦名隨「便宜」而說權實止觀也。

To generate phenomenal goodness that supports the true, he expounds the Tripiṭaka contemplation; to generate principle goodness that supports the true, he expounds the shared contemplation; to generate phenomenal goodness that supports the middle, he expounds the distinctive contemplation; to generate principle goodness that supports the middle, he expounds the perfect contemplation. This is called according with the "individual-adaptation siddhānta," and is also called according with "suitability" in expounding the provisional and real calming and contemplation.
