3.98

云何隨情說三諦？如盲不識乳，便問他言：「乳色何似？」他人答言：「色白如貝、粖、雪、鶴等。」雖聞此說，亦不能了乳之真色。是諸盲人各各作解，競執貝、粖而起四諍。

What is expounding the three truths in accord with sentiments? It is like a blind person who does not know milk and then asks someone else: 'What does the color of milk resemble?' The other person replies: 'Its color is white like a seashell, flour, snow, a crane, and so forth.' Although having heard this explanation, they still cannot understand the true color of milk. These blind people each form their own interpretation, contending over and clinging to the seashell and flour, thereby giving rise to the four disputes.
