The ten minds that flow with the stream are: First, from beginningless time, dark consciousness has been muddled and confused, intoxicated by defilements, falsely calculating a person and a self. Because one calculates a person and a self, one gives rise to the view of selfhood; because of the view of selfhood, one has false thinking and inversions; because of inversions, one gives rise to greed, anger, and delusion; because of delusion, one extensively creates all kinds of karma; through karma, one turns in the cycle of birth and death. Second, internally possessing defilements and externally meeting evil companions who fan perverse teachings, urging and confusing one's mind, making them redouble in intensity. Third, with both internal and external evil conditions complete, one is able internally to extinguish wholesome thoughts and externally to extinguish wholesome deeds; moreover, one feels no sympathetic joy whatsoever toward the good deeds of others. Fourth, giving rein to the three karmas, there is no evil one does not commit. Fifth, though specific actions may not be extensive, the evil mind is omnipresent. Sixth, the evil mind continues uninterrupted, day and night. Seventh, concealing and hiding one's errors, not wishing others to know. Eighth, obstinate and defiant, not fearing the evil destinies. Ninth, lacking remorse and lacking shame. Tenth, repudiating cause and effect, becoming an icchantika. These are the ten kinds that flow with the stream of birth and death, muddled and inverted in creating evil. Like latrine worms enjoying the latrine, unaware and unrecognizing, accumulating heavy burdens beyond calculation, from the four major transgressions and five heinous sins up to the icchantika, birth and death are vast and boundless.
