5.119

云何為人悉檀？如言：「佛法如海，唯信能入。」「信則道源功德母，一切善法由之生。」「汝但發三菩提心，是則出家，禁戒具足。」聞者生信，即其文也。或說緣生一切法，如言：「若不值佛，當於無量劫墮地獄苦；以見佛故，得無根信，如從伊蘭出生栴檀。」聞者生信。或說合生一切法，如言：「心水澄清，珠相自現；慈善根力，見如此事。」聞者生信，即其文也。或說離生一切法，如言：「非內觀得是智慧，乃至非內外觀得是智慧。若有住著，先尼梵志小信尚不可得，況捨邪入正？」聞者生信，即其文也。是為為人悉檀四句，說心生三千一切法也。

What is the individual siddhānta? As it is said: "The Buddha's Dharma is like an ocean; only by faith can one enter." "Faith is the source of the path and the mother of merit, from which all wholesome dharmas arise." "If you only generate the aspiration for sambodhi, this is leaving home and being fully endowed with the precepts." The hearers generate faith—this is the passage. Or it is taught that conditions produce all phenomena, as it is said: "If one did not encounter the Buddha, one would suffer in hell for immeasurable kalpas; because one sees the Buddha, one attains rootless faith, like a sandalwood tree growing out of an eraṇḍa tree." The hearers generate faith. Or it is taught that the combination produces all phenomena, as it is said: "When the water of the mind is clear and still, the form of the jewel naturally appears; through the power of the wholesome root of benevolence, such a thing is seen." The hearers generate faith—this is the passage. Or it is taught that apart [from conditions] all phenomena are produced, as it is said: "It is not by contemplating internally that this wisdom is attained, up to: it is not by contemplating both internally and externally that this wisdom is attained. If there is any abiding attachment, the wanderer Śreṇika could not attain even a little faith, how much less abandon the heterodox and enter the orthodox?" The hearers generate faith—this is the passage. These are the four positions of the individual siddhānta teaching that the mind produces the three thousand all phenomena.
