The Buddhapiṭaka says: 'When the kalpa-fire arises, if the bodhisattva spits once, the fire is immediately extinguished; if he blows once, the world is immediately formed.' It is not that it is first extinguished and then formed; within just a single spit, it is extinguished and formed simultaneously. That sūtra explains external function; internally corresponding to the gate of non-arising, it pervasively destroys and pervasively establishes, destruction and establishment not requiring two thought-moments. If internally one lacks this virtue, then externally there is no great function. Drawing on the external to reveal the internal, its characteristics are like this. One must understand the contemplation of mind: when a sentient being's single lifespan is about to end, that is the end of a kalpa; of the three poisons and three disasters, fire is the initial term. Ceasing them through calming is like extinguishing with spit; contemplating them through contemplation is like forming with a breath (and so on).
