《大經》釋義者,「不聞聞」一句有種種義。初云:「不生生、不生不生、生不生、生生。」按:此四句說無生門,攝自行因果,化他能所等法皆遍。

Regarding the explanation of meaning in the Great Scripture [the Nirvāṇa Sūtra], the single phrase "hearing what was unheard" has various meanings. First it says: "Non-arising arising, non-arising non-arising, arising non-arising, and arising arising." Note: these four phrases expound the gate of non-arising, completely encompassing the cause and effect of one's own practice, as well as the active and passive aspects in converting others, and all other phenomena.
