「斷已生惡法，猶如除毒蛇；
斷未生惡法，如預防流水；
增長已生善，如溉甘果栽；
未生善為生，如鑽木出火。」

"Severing unwholesome dharmas already arisen is like removing a venomous snake;
Severing unwholesome dharmas not yet arisen is like guarding against flowing water in advance;
Increasing wholesome dharmas already arisen is like irrigating a sapling of sweet fruit;
Causing wholesome dharmas not yet arisen to arise is like drilling wood to produce fire."
