8.194

隨魔事起，即以四句破之；橫、竪、單、複，破悉無滯。三藏初伏四魔，坐道場，破煩惱魔，得菩提道；又得法性身，破陰入魔；此兩共破死魔。道樹下得不動三昧，變三玉女，破八十億兵，冠、蓋、劍各墮者，是破天子魔。

As māra affairs arise, one immediately breaks them through the four propositions; whether horizontal, vertical, simple, or compound, all refutations are without obstruction. In the Tripiṭaka [teaching], one first subdues the four māras, sits in the bodhimaṇḍa, breaks the affliction-māra, and attains the path of bodhi; one also attains the dharmatā-body, breaking the aggregate-and-entrance-māra; these two together break the death-māra. Under the Bodhi tree, one attains the unshakeable samādhi, transforms the three jade maidens, and breaks the eighty koṭīs of troops whose crowns, parasols, and swords each drop—this is breaking the devaputra-māra.
