Furthermore, if the eye attends excessively to blue-green, it stirs the liver; if it attends excessively to red, it stirs the heart; if it attends excessively to white, it stirs the lungs; if it attends excessively to black, it stirs the kidneys; if it attends excessively to yellow, it stirs the spleen. If the ear attends excessively to shouting, it stirs the liver; if it attends excessively to speech, it stirs the heart; if it attends excessively to weeping, it stirs the lungs; if it attends excessively to chanting, it stirs the kidneys; if it attends excessively to singing, it stirs the spleen. If the nose attends excessively to gamy odors, it stirs the liver; if it attends excessively to scorched odors, it stirs the heart; if it attends excessively to fishy odors, it stirs the lungs; if it attends excessively to foul odors, it stirs the kidneys; if it attends excessively to fragrant odors, it stirs the spleen. If the tongue attends excessively to sour, it stirs the liver; if it attends excessively to bitter, it stirs the heart; if it attends excessively to pungent, it stirs the lungs; if it attends excessively to salty, it stirs the kidneys; if it attends excessively to sweet, it stirs the spleen. If the body attends excessively to hardness, it stirs the liver; if it attends excessively to warmth, it stirs the heart; if it attends excessively to lightness, it stirs the lungs; if it attends excessively to cold, it stirs the kidneys; if it attends excessively to heaviness, it stirs the spleen. This is when the five viscera generate one another, yet taking these objects to excess leads to illness. In terms of overcoming one another: attending excessively to white overcomes the liver; attending excessively to black overcomes the heart; attending excessively to red overcomes the lungs; attending excessively to yellow overcomes the kidneys; attending excessively to blue-green overcomes the spleen. The rest, such as sounds, can be understood by analogy.
