智者應觀身,不貪染世樂;
"Birth and death are never cut off
Because of greed, desire, and craving for tastes.
Nourishing the enemy and entering the grave mounds,
One endures all bitterness and toil in vain.
The body is foul-smelling like a corpse,
Its nine orifices oozing impurities.
Just as a worm in a latrine delights in dung,
The foolish person's body is no different.
The wise should contemplate the body
And not greedily defile themselves with worldly pleasures;
Free of burdens and with nothing desired—
This is called true Nirvāṇa.
As the Buddhas have taught,
Practicing with single mind and single intent,
Counting breaths in dhyāna-concentration—
This is called practicing ascetic austerities (dhūta)."
