3.135

第一、約止門明四修者：一、事止，所謂係緣、制心等止，即是事修；二、理止，所謂體真止，即是理修；三、事理止，所謂緣俗體真止，即是事理修；四、非事非理止，所謂息二邊分別止，即是非事非理修。

First, explaining the four cultivations in terms of the gate of cessation: 1. Phenomenal cessation, namely cessations such as fixing on conditions and reining in the mind, which is phenomenal cultivation; 2. Principle cessation, namely the cessation of embodying truth, which is principle cultivation; 3. Phenomenal-and-principle cessation, namely the cessation of conditioning the conventional and embodying truth, which is phenomenal-and-principle cultivation; 4. Neither-phenomenal-nor-principle cessation, namely the cessation of putting to rest distinctions of the two extremes, which is neither-phenomenal-nor-principle cultivation.
