第一、明驗善根性，即為四意：一、列善法章門；二、正明善根發相；三、驗知虛實；四、料揀發禪不定。

First, examining and verifying the wholesome root-dispositions comprises four points: 1. Listing the headings of wholesome dharmas; 2. Correctly explaining the signs of wholesome roots arising; 3. Examining to know the false and true; 4. Discerning the indeterminate arising of dhyāna.
