4.96

欲是汝初軍，憂愁為第二，
饑渴為第三，觸愛為第四，
睡眠第五軍，怖畏為第六，
疑悔為第七，瞋恚為第八，
利養虛稱九，自高蔑人十。
如是等軍眾，厭沒出家人。
我以禪智力，破汝此諸軍，
得成佛道已，度脫一切人。

"Desire is your first army; / sorrow and grief are the second;
hunger and thirst are the third; / craving for contact is the fourth;
sleep is the fifth army; / fear is the sixth;
doubt and remorse are the seventh; / anger and wrath are the eighth;
gain and empty fame are the ninth; / arrogance and despising others are the tenth.
Armies such as these / overwhelm and drown those who have gone forth.
With the power of dhyāna and wisdom, / I will crush these armies of yours;
having achieved the Buddha Path, / I shall deliver all people."
