Briefly speaking, ten wholesome dharmas as retinue arise together with the movement. What are the ten? First, concentration; second, emptiness; third, brightness and purity; fourth, joy; fifth, bliss; sixth, the arising of a wholesome mind; seventh, clear knowledge and vision; eighth, untrammeled liberation; ninth, the presence of the perceptual realm; tenth, mental flexibility and pliancy. These ten dharmas arise together with the movement, and are called the sublime meritorious virtues of the retinue of movement that adorn the movement dharma. If differentiated fully, they could hardly be exhausted; this is a brief explanation of the initial marks of the movement-sensation. In this way, after one day, or ten days, or one month, four months, up to one year, when this matter has passed, other sensations arise sequentially; therefore it is called the first dhyāna.
