As for recollection of the Buddha: If the practitioner in an araṇya has fear in his mind, he should recollect the Buddha. The Buddha is the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, up to Bhagavān, fully endowed with the ten titles, the thirty-two marks, the eighty minor marks, great benevolence and great compassion, the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, and the eighteen unshared dharmas. His radiance of wisdom and supernormal powers are boundless, and he can deliver boundless sentient beings of the ten directions. He is my Great Master, protecting and saving everyone—what should I fear? Single-mindedly recalling this, terror is immediately eliminated.
