What is called resemblance perfect realization as the six wondrous gates? As described in the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka Sūtra regarding the purification of the eye faculty, being able to count at once the quantities of phenomena such as form and mind of the ordinary and noble beings of the ten directions is called the gate of counting. All phenomena of form accord with the eye faculty, and the eye does not contravene phenomena of form, mutually according with each other, hence called the gate of following. When seeing in this way, the eye faculty and consciousness are serene and unmoving, hence called the gate of cessation. Not seeing the various Buddha lands by means of dual characteristics, penetrating without hindrance, skillfully distinguishing, and clearly illuminating the dharma nature is called the gate of contemplation. Returning within the realm of the eye faculty, penetrating the realms of the ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, and all other faculties so that all are clear and unhindered, because they are marks of neither unity nor difference, is called the gate of turning back. Furthermore, seeing the realm of one's own eye faculty returning and manifesting in the realms of the eyes of the ordinary and noble beings of the ten directions is also called the gate of turning back. Although distinctly penetrating and seeing such things, one does not give rise to delusive conceptual discrimination. Knowing that original nature is constantly pure, without any phenomenon that can be defiled, not abiding and not clinging, not giving rise to attachment to dharmas, is called the gate of purification. This is a brief explanation of the marks of realizing the resemblance six wondrous gates within the purification of the eye faculty. The remaining five faculties are also like this. They are explained at length as clarified in the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka Sūtra.
