二、觀支。細心分別名為觀。行者既證初禪功德，即以細心分別此禪定中色法諸妙功德境界分明，無諸蓋覆，如是等功德，欲界之所未有，故名觀支。

Second, the factor of sustained application. Discerning with a subtle mind is named sustained application. Once the practitioner has verified the virtues of the first dhyāna, they immediately use a subtle mind to discern the various marvelous virtues and spheres of material dharmas in this meditative absorption clearly and without any obscuring hindrances; virtuous qualities such as these did not exist in the desire realm, hence it is named the factor of sustained application.
