三、未生善法為生，一心勤精進。四念處觀時，信等五種善根未生，為令生故，一心勤精進，方便修習令信等善根生也。

Third, dedicated diligence with single-mindedness in bringing about wholesome states that have not yet arisen. At the time of contemplating the four bases of mindfulness, when the five wholesome roots such as faith have not yet arisen, in order to bring them about, one diligently exerts oneself with single-mindedness, skillfully cultivating and practicing so that the wholesome roots such as faith arise.
