弟子總持和南。僧使智邃來，奉五月二日誨，用慰馳結。仰承衡嶽功德圓滿，便致荊巫履涉虧和，深以傾悚。弟子於江都入朝，至陝關眩瞀停岐陽，腹內又不調適。去月末還京輦，如欲相承猶自羸薾，末即祇覲望雲延願珍納。行人今返，辭豈宣具。謹和南。

Your disciple Zongchi bows in veneration. The monk-envoy Zhisui has arrived, bringing your instructions of the second day of the fifth month, which have comforted my anxious longings. I learned with reverence that your meritorious enterprise at Hengyue is complete, but traversing the Jing and Wu regions has impaired your health, which fills me with deep anxiety. Your disciple went from Jiangdu to court, but upon reaching the Shan Pass, I was seized by dizziness and halted at Qiyang; my abdomen was also indisposed. At the end of last month I returned to the capital. While I wished to welcome you, I was still frail and exhausted, unable to pay my respects immediately; gazing at the clouds, I extend my wishes that you take precious care. The envoy is now returning; how could words fully convey my feelings? Respectfully bowing in veneration.
