弟子總持和南。奉旨於荊州當陽縣境玉泉山陲，為建造伽藍招提行道，圖寫地形具以賜示。伏以布金遍地，買園建立，奉置三尊，永流萬代。唱誦所不能讚，算數所不能量。孰意輕微頓蒙創造，循復來旨爽然失厝。既事出神心、理生望表，無容違拒。苟作形迹即具聞奏，嘉號乃覃名符天冠，道場聲滿恒沙世界，福報仰歸遜辭難涉。謹和南。

Your disciple Zongchi bows in veneration. I have received your intention to construct a saṅghārāma and āraṇya for practicing the Way at the foot of Mount Yuquan in Dangyang County, Jingzhou, and you have fully bestowed upon me a diagram depicting the terrain. I humbly reflect that spreading gold across the ground to purchase a park, establish it, and enshrine the Three Honoured Ones therein will flow eternally through ten thousand generations. It is beyond the praise of recitations and the calculation of numbers. Who would have expected that in my humble insignificance I would suddenly be favoured with its founding? Reviewing your incoming instructions repeatedly, I am overwhelmed with wonder and loss for words. Since the matter stems from a divine mind and the principle exceeds all expectations, there is no room to decline. I immediately presented a memorial regarding this formal matter; an auspicious title has now been extended, with a name matching the heavenly crown. May the renown of this bodhimaṇḍa fill worlds numerous as the sands of the Ganges, and may its karmic rewards revert to you; words of modest deferral are difficult to sustain.
