弟子總持和南。垂旨令撰衡嶽禪師碑文。郭有道之無愧辭，高德逾此，陸士衡之披文想質。弟子多慚，既蒙獎成不無剋勵，邯鄲絕妙深恐難工，還鎮病瘳庶或勉強。循覽行狀用難思議，佛澄、道安寧復過是。和南。

Your disciple Zongchi bows in veneration. You have graciously deigned to instruct me to compose a stele inscription for the Dhyāna Master of Hengyue. Guo Youdao truly lacked words of shame, yet his lofty virtue surpassed this; Lu Shiheng unfolded texts to contemplate their substance. Your disciple is filled with shame. Having received your encouragement, I am not without effort; but deeply fearing that I lack the skill for such Handan-like excellence, I hope that once I return to my post and my illness is cured, I may force myself to try. Examining and perusing the account of his deeds, they are truly hard to conceive; could Fo Tucheng or Dao'an have surpassed this? Bowing in veneration.
