此豈非素不知觀於妄心，故但云照無二之性，又是但觀非染非淨之真心等於染淨也。上人雖因前詰難書故，撿看《止觀》，知觀六識妄心。然只但見其文，而全迷其義。若知義者，終不更執真心造如來也，終不約真心說唯心也。

Does this not show that you originally did not know to contemplate the deluded mind, and hence merely said "illuminating the non-dual nature," which is again merely contemplating the true mind that is neither defiled nor pure as equal to defilement and purity? Although, due to the previous letter of interrogation, you examined the Zhiguan and knew to contemplate the deluded mind of the six consciousnesses, yet you have merely seen its words while remaining completely deluded about its meaning. If you knew its meaning, you would never persist in holding that the true mind produces the Tathāgata, nor would you explain "mind-only" in terms of the true mind.
